Bayer Leverkusen Nears Deal for Rising Hertha Star Kennet Eichhorn (16)
According to Sky Germany, Bayer Leverkusen is on the verge of securing a transfer for Hertha BSC's highly-rated talent, Kennet Eichhorn. Reports indicate that representatives for the 16-year-old defensive midfielder have already met with Leverkusen's management. Eichhorn's current club, a 2. Bundesliga side, can be prompted to release him through a clause reportedly valued at around €12 million.
Widespread Interest in Kennet Eichhorn
Eichhorn's departure from his current club this summer is widely anticipated. The young prodigy's market value has soared from an estimated €6 million to €20 million since he debuted for Hertha's senior team this season. Leverkusen aims to replicate its previous success in acquiring talent from Hertha, following the signing of Ibrahim Maza last summer.
However, unlike Maza, Eichhorn is not expected to immediately integrate into Bundesliga play. Sky further reports that the Berlin-born player, currently recuperating from an ankle syndesmotic injury, is slated to be loaned back to Hertha for the 2026/27 season, allowing him to progress at a more gradual and suitable pace.
Eichhorn's Other Potential Destinations
Regarded as one of Europe's most coveted young talents, Eichhorn has attracted attention from numerous top clubs, including Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, and Arsenal FC. Bayern Munich has also reportedly engaged in discussions with Eichhorn’s representatives, offering the prospect of training at their renowned FCB campus.
From Eichhorn's viewpoint, a transfer to Leverkusen followed by a loan spell back at Hertha remains a highly logical choice. Maza's successful integration into Leverkusen's squad provides a compelling argument, as does the opportunity for Eichhorn to continue playing for Hertha for an additional year. The timing of Eichhorn's final decision is still uncertain.
