Borussia Dortmund's Fourth Bid for Said El Mala Rejected by FC Köln
FC Köln has reportedly turned down a significant fourth offer from Borussia Dortmund for German attacking talent Said El Mala. The latest proposal from Dortmund, submitted on Wednesday evening, aimed to secure the player with a guaranteed fee below €50 million, augmented by achievable bonuses that could push the total package beyond €55 million.
Despite the substantial offer, including a sell-on percentage as reported by Geißblog, FC Köln remains resolute. Both Geißblog and the local tabloid Express indicate that Köln rejected the bid, maintaining their firm stance: a guaranteed base fee of at least €50 million is required, independent of any bonuses or future resale income. This clarification follows Dortmund's intensified efforts to acquire the player.
Earlier reports from Get German Football News on Tuesday suggested Dortmund was preparing a package around €55 million, with Sky indicating a €50 million guaranteed sum plus €5 million in bonuses. However, the actual submitted offer appears to have a different structure, with the fixed component falling short of Köln's demands.
Borussia Dortmund has notably increased their commitment, having previously seen a €45 million offer (comprising €37 million guaranteed and €8 million in bonuses) rejected. The core of the disagreement remains unchanged.
While BVB is prepared to assemble a comprehensive package exceeding €50 million, FC Köln insists that the guaranteed transfer fee itself must be €50 million before they will sanction El Mala's departure.
