Ermedin Demirovic: Stuttgart Commitment Amidst Transfer Speculation and Champions League Ambitions
Ermedin Demirovic has firmly stated his dedication to VfB Stuttgart, putting to rest ongoing rumors of a potential move from the Bundesliga club. Despite these speculations, the 28-year-old striker expressed his aspiration for his third season with the Swabians to include a Champions League fixture against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
This summer, Demirovic had garnered interest from notable clubs such as Leeds United, Juventus, and Fenerbahçe. Reports also suggested internal debate within Stuttgart regarding the possibility of a profitable sale for the player.
The striker was reportedly frustrated by suggestions that head coach Sebastian Hoeneß was open to his departure. Demirovic has now definitively dismissed any notion of seeking an exit and emphasized the strength of his relationship with Hoeneß.
Demirovic's commitment coincides with Stuttgart's ongoing negotiations with Wolfsburg for Dzenan Pejcinovic. The 20-year-old forward is keen to join the Champions League participants, but the two clubs have yet to agree on a valuation.
Wolfsburg is reportedly seeking €25 million, while Stuttgart has put forward an offer of approximately €20 million. According to Kicker, sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth does not anticipate Pejcinovic joining the team's current training camp in Grassau, though discussions are continuing.
The potential arrival of another striker would intensify competition for Demirovic. However, the former Augsburg captain publicly welcomed the prospective signing, highlighting Stuttgart's need for maximum quality as they prepare to compete across multiple competitions.
Demirovic Targets an Arsenal Showdown
With Stuttgart set to return to the Champions League next season, Demirovic sees another chance to test his skills against Europe's elite clubs. He already possesses experience playing against prominent opponents in both the Champions League and Europa League.
However, a specific encounter remains a high priority on his wish list. Demirovic hopes Stuttgart will be drawn against an English team, with Arsenal being the club he most desires to face.
An opportunity to play at the Emirates Stadium would also allow Demirovic to showcase his abilities in England, following the recent interest from Leeds United.
Nevertheless, his immediate focus remains on contributing to another successful season for Stuttgart, rather than pursuing a transfer to the Premier League.
Ermedin Demirovic on His Stuttgart Future
“Leaving was never an option for me,” Demirovic told Sport Bild. “I heard the rumors while on holiday, but I’ve always said that I want to stay at VfB.
“I want to help the team, score goals – as many as possible – continue to lead the way, and play a successful season.”
Demirovic on Pejcinovic and Arsenal
“He can gladly come. He is very welcome,” Demirovic said of Pejcinovic, as quoted by Kicker. “We want to enter the season with a strong squad. That’s why every player who brings quality is important to us.
“I hope that we get an English team at some point. That would be cool. I would like to play against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.”
