FC Köln Pursues Eintracht Frankfurt Midfielder Ellyes Skhiri
FC Köln is exploring alternative midfield options should their pursuit of Edson Álvarez from West Ham United prove unsuccessful. Among the players being considered is former FC Köln player Ellyes Skhiri, who currently plays for Eintracht Frankfurt and has one year remaining on his contract.
According to reports from Bild, Eintracht Frankfurt has listed Skhiri for transfer with a valuation of approximately €2 million. This figure is within FC Köln's financial reach. Furthermore, unlike the potential acquisition of Álvarez, Skhiri's salary demands are not expected to be a hindrance for the club managed by René Wagner. Negotiations are reportedly already underway, and if the move for Álvarez falters, FC Köln is expected to intensify their efforts to sign Skhiri.
It has been a period of significant activity for FC Köln this summer as they undertake a squad reconstruction following the departure of Lukas Kwasniok in March 2026. The club has already finalized the signing of Luka Lochoshvili from Nürnberg and has secured permanent deals for Jahmai Simpson-Pusey and Tom Krauß. Additionally, FC Köln is nearing agreements for Gideon Mensah and Paul Okon-Engstler.
