Sebastiaan Bornauw is set to return to the Bundesliga, having agreed to a loan move to Hamburg. An agreement has been finalized between Leeds United and HSV, with reports suggesting an option to purchase the defender for approximately €4-5 million. A medical examination is scheduled for Monday.

The 27-year-old central defender spent the 2025/26 season in the Premier League, featuring in 12 matches for Leeds. Prior to his time in England, he had a successful four-year spell at Wolfsburg, where he showcased his talents and garnered significant attention. This transfer brings him back to the Bundesliga, a league where he has previously played for both Wolfsburg and Cologne.

The Belgian international has represented his country at all youth levels and has earned four senior caps, with his most recent call-up occurring in 2023.

Following Leeds United's signing of Swiss center-back Nico Elvedi from Borussia Mönchengladbach, the club has sanctioned Bornauw's departure to Hamburg.
